Education Package -LDN Tour & Explore
Tour! Explore! and More! Personal Development and Employability Skills
Enjoy one of our unique London Liarsí Tours and then create your own with our specialised tour training offer.
This not only provides a fun day out (with prizes!) for teachers and their classes, but will give your school or college groups a unique way of developing their personal, development and employability skills.
In addition to this, our package provides an opportunity to develop studentsí knowledge of history, geography, English and maths as well as research and presentation skills which are so vital for their progress into higher education and/or future employment.
The complete training package includes preparatory guidance materials for pre-tour classroom use, a model tour by our team of highly experienced guides in our unique London Liarsí format. It also includes online support resources for student groups to explore a target area for themselves in order to gather material for creating their own tour. In addition, we can also provide follow-up workshop sessions back in the classroom to support the studentsí write-up of their tours if required.
Finally, these tours could then be delivered as interactive whiteboard presentations to school and college audiences or delivered live on the streets of London. These can consolidate student communication and IT skills and be the basis for future activities around citizenship or entrepreneurial activities.

The tour lasts 90 minutes and then after a 20 minute introduction they have 70 minutes (more if you like) to walk around an area guided by our interactive map taking notes and photographs. Working as a team and with the aid of supporting resources provided these notes are reflected upon and turned in to the basis of their own walking tour.
We also offer a workshop option to work with your pupils to help them create their own tours back at your institution.
There are five potential start points to our tour and explore activities. These are London Bridge, Tower Hill, Monument, Waterloo and, for a more literature focused tour, Borough Tube.
Whenever you like but we recommend 4 hours for the tour and explore activities in case of delays in travel and to accommodate a 30 minute comfort break.
LDN Tour&explore London are two tour guides who work in education and an award winning professional story teller. Sean Mitchell is a blue badge guide who works with disadvantaged adults and teenagers whilst Chris Roberts works in online learning and has more than decadeís experience of creating innovative and interactive tours on the streets of London. Vanessa Woolf is the award winning storyteller London Dreamtime who brings a wealth of performance and presentation skills.
Pricing structure can vary depending on individual requirements but for the tour, explore and resources package the cost (based on 20 pupils) is £300 for 4 hours and £500 for the day.
More on the LDN Tour and Explore Package
|There is an exemplar 90 minute London Liars' Tour delivered by one of our guides so your pupils have an idea about how walking tours can work. They will also pick up tips on delivery, presentation and lots of London facts. More importantly they will have a great deal of fun reading stories themselves, performing and competing for prizes.
After a 30 minute break (or longer if you prefer) our guide(s) walk your group(s)to a central point in the area to be explored. There is a brief introduction to the area, advice on what to do when exploring the area and putting a tour together.
Using the interactive map provided for support your pupils plot their potential tour route and walk the area talking photos, notes and discussing their preferred route.
In addition to brief notes on the thirty stops other resources will be provided on certain topics of note relating to the area. These might include ghost stories, the newspapers and development of London. They will also be given a selection of our true or false liarsí stories and one of the expectations is that they research which is true and which false.
Working in groups of two or three a stop this should enable the pupils to create a basic functioning tour in the time provided.
There is a Virtual Learning Environment with additional support resources including video explanations, downloadable documents and how guides as well as links to top London blogs and reference resources.
We can also help guide your pupils through workshops back at your institution.
